Stress

Stress

According to Selye, a certain amount of stress (Eustress) is necessary for us to function and keep ourselves motivated. However, if the stress levels are overwhelming, then the person begins to show signs of emotional and cognitive impairment. For example, they might become anxious, irritable, suffer from insomnia, make mistakes and are unable to relax. If ignored, these symptoms can affect the immune system and eventually cause chronic disease such as ulcers or hypertension. Counselling enables the client to assess where his stress is coming from, develop both psychological and practical strategies to cope with the stress and get a more balanced lifestyle.
