Eating healthy meals and exercise are the fundamentals of weight control. However, for some people this seems an impossible task. They might be able to lose some weight initially, but soon go off track and end up piling on the pounds again. Comfort and Eating have strong psychological links. When we are babies and are being fed, we are generally being held close and this makes us feel safe and loved. We therefore learn very early to associate a full stomach with feelings of love and safety. So as adults, when we are unhappy we try to recreate that feeling of safety and love by eating.

There is also a habit component to over eating. Children, who are rewarded for finishing everything on their plate even when they are full, often eat too large a portion as adults.

Changing the way we eat using hypnosis requires the unconscious mind to accept that these old patterns of over eating have no value and that they may even be harmful to one’s health. Reframing allows the mind to invest in a better and healthier lifestyle.
